Prosecutor inhibits, transfers taipan case to Justice

UNDER pressure and “a cloud of doubt,” the Makati City prosecutor handling the grave coercion complaint of tycoon Lucio Tan’s younger brother against him has passed the case on to the Justice Department.

Second Assistant City Prosecutor Edgardo Hirang said he decided to inhibit himself from the case because of claims by Senator Panfilo Lacson that former Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez had been transferred to Malacañang for allegedly meddling on behalf of Tan’s brother, Mariano Tanenglian, in his case against the security officers of the Tan-owned Allied Bank.

“This office dispenses justice strictly on the merits of the case. However, a cloud of doubt has been cast,” Hirang said in his order.

Hirang’s decision was approved by City Prosecutor Feliciano Aspi, who in turn forwarded all the documents of the case to the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor at the Justice Department.

The criminal complaint was filed in February by Tanenglian against Allied Bank’s security chief and six guards for allegedly preventing him from entering the bank’s parking area to attend a board meeting on Feb. 4.

Tanenglian, the chief financial officer of the Lucio Tan Group of Companies at the time, complained that security chief Christopher Dobles, head of Allied Bank’s Corporate Security Department, stopped him and his driver, Ladislao Oriendo, and even drew their firearms when he insisted on entering the building. Yehey!

Graft, corruption and bribery, kuno! Kaya hindi umaasenso ang Pilipinas! Ayun!

Ang DOJ ay magbibigay ng maayos na desisyon sa kaso na ito.

Sigurado walang lagay o kotong dito.

Tinanggal si Sec. Gonzalez kasi nakikialam siya sa away ng mga Tan.

MANILA - Low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific said Wednesday it has overtaken older local carrier Philippine Airlines in terms of number of weekly flights as of June. The Gokongwei-led budget carrier cited data from global flight information and data solutions company Official Airline Guide (OAG).

In a statement, Cebu Pacific said it now ranks 65th among world airlines--7 notches higher than PAL's 72nd rank this month.

Cebu Pacific has 1,655 weekly flights as of June this year, higher than PAL's 1,566.

"This new leadership milestone was a result of the airline's sustained focus on offering the newest planes and the lowest possible fares to its passengers," Cebu Pacific Vice President for Marketing and Distribution Candice Iyog said.

Based on reports, Mariano Tanenglian has relinquished critical roles more than 2 years ago.

Mariano is widely seen as the most capable partner of Lucio.

kung tinanggal na siya sa dalawang taon nang nakaraan, ano ang problema ngayon?

mr tan also did a lot of philanthropic contributions for the betterment of philippine society.
the accusations are still that, accusations. mr. tan has not been convicted of any wrongdoing by the courts.
